Questions and Answers about Virtual Fencing
Should I be concerned about the battery temperature or the device overheating?
No. The eShepherd collar uses lithium iron phosphate batteries, which are known for their high temperature resistance and chemical stability. This prevents problems with overheating or thermal risks.
Who can I contact for support?
Contact the support team by telephone: 2045 71 08 53.
What does a flashing orange LED on the collar mean?
On collars with cellular connectivity, a flashing orange light indicates that the device is attempting to connect to the LTE-M network
How much sunlight does it need?
Approximately 4 hours of direct sunlight every 24 hours to keep the battery charged.
What is the warranty period for the necklaces?
Each necklace comes with a 3-year guarantee
What happens if the network connection fails?
If there is a network outage, the virtual fences remain active for up to 24 hours. If communication is not restored, the virtual fences are deactivated, allowing the animals to leave
Can collars be used on bulls?
Yes, the collars are suitable for bulls. For large breeds such as Angus or Hereford, longer chains may be needed to ensure a proper fit. Check regularly to make sure the collar is not causing chafing or discomfort.
What happens if an animal leaves the virtual fence?
If an animal tries to leave, the collar emits up to 3 beeps and 3 pulses. If it does not respond, the animal will be able to leave but will also be able to return without receiving any further stimuli.
What notifications and alerts does the collar send?
You can enable push notifications and customise alerts in the settings menu of the web app.
What is the maximum size of a virtual fence?
Each segment of the virtual fence can be up to 40 km long, which usually exceeds standard requirements. Please consult your eShepherd representative for specific cases.
How accurate is the GPS location provided by the collar?
La precisión del GPS depende de varios factores como la proximidad a cercas virtuales y la disponibilidad satelital. La precisión máxima, de aproximadamente ±1 metro, se alcanza cuando el animal está a menos de 20 metros de una cerca virtual.
How many exclusion zones can I create?
Currently, only one exclusion zone is permitted within an inclusion zone. Upcoming updates will allow for multiple exclusion zones.
What is the maximum number of vertices per virtual fence?
Each virtual fence can have up to 30 vertices. This limit also applies to exclusion zones.
How long does it take for a notification to appear if the animal is inactive?
The collar will send an alert if it detects that the animal has been inactive for more than 10 per cent of the time over the last 24 hours. This is equivalent to 2.4 hours without moving, provided the collar is communicating correctly. This will enable you to quickly detect any abnormalities in the animal’s activity.
