FAQs digitanimal LUX

What type of inhibition do you use?

Digitanimal LUX uses a system of irregular light pulses at night. The variable light output is designed to prevent wildlife from becoming accustomed to the device, thereby increasing its deterrent effect.

Which species are you trying to deter?

The system is primarily designed to deter wolves and bears, although it can also be effective against other wild animals such as wild boar, deer, foxes and other animals that may approach livestock.

How does indirect localisation work?

LUX operates using a main device and several secondary devices or inhibitors.

The main device detects the presence of the secondary devices when they are within a radius of approximately 50 metres. Thanks to this proximity communication, it is possible to determine the location of the secondary devices indirectly.

What is its range?

The system offers a battery life of approximately one year, reducing the need for maintenance and frequent battery replacement.

Do you have a solar panel?

Yes. The main device features a solar panel, which helps to keep its battery charged and extends its battery life during field use.

What type of connectivity do you use?

The main device uses NB-IoT connectivity, a technology designed to provide efficient, energy-efficient communications and good coverage in rural areas.

How do you install it?

LUX is fitted around the animalโ€™s neck using a strap, following a system similar to that used in other Digitanimal devices.

Its design allows it to be easily integrated into routine livestock management, without the need for permanent installations on the farm.

What is its scope?

The main device can detect the location of secondary inhibitors when they are approximately 50 metres away.

This functionality makes it possible to create a protective environment around the animals and to maintain indirect control over the location of the various LUX devices.

What type of deterrent do you use? (light, sound, ultrasound, a combination, etc.)

Irregular flashes of light during the night.

Visual deterrent: activates strobe lights that flash intermittently and irregularly, creating an unexpected effect for the predator.
